About Gigi Marino

Over my 25 years of experience working in higher ed from both the faculty and administrative side, I’ve brought ideas to the table while cultivating creative talent to raise the institution’s profile. As an expert in alumni, admissions, and advancement communications, I’ve led efforts to refresh and rebrand major academic institutions and their publications, while enlivening the conversation surrounding their research and supporting their strategic goals in an innovative way.

I’ve taught creative writing, magazine article writing, and editing. In my position as Director of Communications in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Florida, I won CASE awards for redesign of our college magazine, Ytori (previously CLASnotes). Previously, I was the editor of Bucknell University’s alumni publication, which I shepherded through a major redesign from a 2-color tabloid to a 4-color magazine. I also was part of the team that took The Penn Stater through an award-winning redesign in 1995.

In addition to my editorial skills, I also have expertise in science writing. My articles have appeared in Science News, MIT’s Technology Review, Research/Penn State, Rutgers Magazine, Penn Arts & Sciences Magazine, Purdue Magazine, Denison Magazine, and others. I regularly work with public information officers and the media to disseminate news about scientific research.
